salvage:a : compensation paid for saving a ship or its cargo from the perils of the sea or for the lives and property rescued in a wreck b : the act of saving or rescuing a ship or its cargo c : the act of saving or rescuing property in danger (as from fire)

Etymology: French, from Middle French, from salver to save

A lesson plenty of people never learn: country doesn't mean dumb.

In the case of Bobby Singer, it means pretty damned smart. Smart enough to hide his library behind a mountain of dead vehicles (better known as Singer Salvage Yard), inside a run-down clapboard house that was painted black once upon a time, but has since faded into a dark no-color. Anything that wants to get inside has to get past Rumsfeld the rottweiler first.

And then, depending on who (or what) you are, there are other dangers in store.

Once you manage to make it past the dead cars, the live dog, and the owner of the place -- you're looking at one of the largest private demonology libraries west of the Mississippi. And as long as you need the information for the right kind of purposes --

Bobby can provide beer, wisdom, and an occasional shotgun hand, in addition to the books.

No, country doesn't mean dumb.

Country, in Bobby's case, means realistic.

Spend enough time on the fringes of so-called civilization, and you either learn how to handle yourself, or you're not around to worry about it.

Just over six feet (and taller in his Georgia Giants), Bobby covers up a balding head with a series of increasingly disreputable trucker hats. His beard's pretty well kept up, though. He's a Carhartt-and-Wrangler kind of guy. Embracing the local stereotype makes you blend in better.

Besides, he likes it.

Bobby Singer, formerly [ profile] salver, portrayed by Jim Beaver on Supernatural, is the property of Eric Kripke, the CW, and other people who aren't me. He appears here solely for the purpose of role-playing in [info]milliways_bar, from which no profit whatsoever is being made.
